I am so excited to start a new project this month! In the month of January, I am joining other bloggers around the bloggasphere, and making over a new space for under $100! It is called the $100 Room Challenge and you can read more about it here!
Brett and I chose our guest room closet to remodel. We have already done a good amount to it already. We painted over the dark brown color it was originally and painted it Simply white (along with the rest of the room). We ripped out the cheap shelving units and took out the track doors that were in really bad shape. I don’t have a before picture, for which I could kick myself for, but trust me, it was bad you guys. It’s funny how renovating a home can really make you question people’s life decisions…. Anyway, here is the closet today, a blank canvas for the $100 Room Challenge.
To replace the track doors, we added a tension rod and curtains I had on hand. Not ideal, but it was a decent solution for the time being. However, it has got to go because the tension rod is definitely sagging a bit (sorry Brett).
- install built in drawers/ shelving unit
- install shelves for the sides of the closet
- hang refurbished mirror
- install shelves for upper part of closet
Now the fun part, inspiration photos! Since we have only $100 to work with, a lot of work will be DIY.
We plan on having built in storage in this space. Goodwill will be my new best friend! I would love a space for where I can keep some of our office supplies since we don’t have a room dedicated as an office. To be honest, things will evolve as we build. So I have a rough idea for this space, just know it will probably change!
I like how Yellow Brick Home added simple shelves to the sides, something we could definitely do with our space. I also like the idea that Annabode.com added built ins around two dressers. I am also loving this gray-blue color of these closet doors. Maybe I will do a two-toned closet!
There you have it, stay tuned for next week’s post- week 1 progress!
