It’s a snow day here in Colorado! Finally we got some long awaited snow over night and it was glorious. It is also -1 outside, which is not so great. I love the snow and I love snowy pictures even more. To capture my own, Brett and I took a day trip to a favorite place, Estes Park. We have been there countless times and it still never gets old.
I have mentioned before that Estes Park is home to the Rocky Mountain National Park which is full of opportunities to see some good wildlife, but we didn’t want to pay the entrance fee this time. Instead, we decided to drive up to the entrance and turn back around. You can almost guarantee that you will see some Elk near the Stanley Hotel or the Estes Park golf course so our hopes were high. We drove to the entrance and did not see a single animal so we almost counted the trip as a bust but just after we turned around, BAM! This guy. Perfectly positioned for a nice portrait.
Well worth the drive. Thank you Mr. Elk!
The next day, after most of the snow had fallen, we just hung around at our apartment and let the dogs enjoy the snow. Poor Finley, his little paws are just too sensitive for the snow. He would run for a bit and then limp around simultaneously trying to lick his paws. Looks like we may have to find him some boots. Has anyone had any luck with dog boots? Do they even stay on? Better yet, are they a waste of money? Would love to know your thoughts!
In case you are wondering about that ridiculously long leash, we are trying to (re)train Finley to not run away from us when off leash. It is a work in progress (1 year in the working!).
Stay warm friends!
