Happy New Years and I hope your Christmas was fully of family and food! Sorry I have been MIA the past couple of weeks. Just a helpful tip that I am sure you were not aware of, the holidays are NOT a good time to move. We spent the better time of our holidays moving our things into a storage unit/ basement apartment. All I can say is that my husband wins the Husband of the Year award. Alas, we are settled in and all is back to normal (ish).
I always get excited about the new year. New beginnings, new goals, and a new planner! Im not one to write down my new years resolutions (nor stick to them), but this year since I have a blog, what better way to keep myself accountable than put my resolutions out there for the world to see?
I am a morning person, no doubt about it. It’s interesting that I work nights because most people who work nights are night owls. Not the case with me. I start my mornings early, like 5:45 AM early (only the days I have off). I love watching the sun rise then slowly light up the Boulder Flatirons. I have my cup of coffee and catch up on my favorite bloggers. It sets a great tone for the day and gives me inspiration to get through the day’s mundane tasks.
The other morning, while catching up on my feedly, I came across domino’s Best Design Blogs 2016. While reading, it inspired me to make my own list of the best design blogs of 2016, according to me!
Owner of Amber Interiors INC and retail Shoppe, Amber uses her blog to showcase her latest projects. Her work is so crisp, clean, and modern with a little bit of vintage thrown in.
As a new reader, I really appreciate where Simply Grove came from and where she is now. Her blog is such an inspiration to me! She is completely self taught and grew her blog into a full on team. You can find some great styling tips on her blog. Also, you can now pre-order her new book, Simply Styling: Fresh & Easy Ways to Personalize Your Home.
Chris Loves Julia
Chris Loves Julia is one of the One Room Challenge participators who knocked it out of the park this past challenge. I love how you can see Julia’s and Chris’ individual design choices melt together over the years. It has been fun watching them DIY/ renovate their most recent home while they tackle some other huge projects too. Check out one of their most recent projects, their outdoor space! The outdoor fireplace seals the deal!
Even though House*Tweaking doesn’t post as often, I still love going through her blog from start to finish. Once a pharmacist, Dana left her day job to pursue her dream in interiors through her own home renovations. I love how they downsized to a new (old) home, aka “the crackhouse” and renovated it into a magnificent mid-century ranch. She is so genuine through it all!
Yellow Brick Home
Another DIY power couple (+ their 2 pups), Yellow Brick Home is full of all things home DIY. Their blog started out when they renovated their small, 600 something square-foot condo and now has them renovating their second home in Chicago. Be sure to follow their journey!
Room For Tuesday
Sarah Gibson, the founder of Room For Tuesday has made her blog a beautiful and inspiring space. More of a lifestyle blog, you can find posts on her own home renovation, DIY projects, recipes, and decor/ styling tips. If I am in search of a good DIY project, her site is my go-to. Check out her shibori post, I followed her tutorial and am so happy with the results!
Another One Room Challenge participant, The Makerista did not disappoint with her sunroom/office/nursery. I love her eclectic style and her helpful design tips on the blog.
Style by Emily Henderson
The holy grail of design blogs, Emily Henderson’s blog showcases her own home renovation (have you seen her kitchen reveal!?) along with some of her own firm’s projects. You can often see some guests posts that are really on point. My favorite is this DIY headboard.
